Richard Varos is a senior executive who is focused on helping clients identify and embrace new business models, leverage the latest digital technologies to modernize their business, re-imagine core processes, and drive a growth culture of constant innovation and change. During a 30 year career at IBM, Richard held various roles, with extensive work across the Healthcare and Government industries over the last decade — always thriving on bringing the best to his clients.
In the recent past, Richard has been focused on two key missions. As a senior leader, Richard worked closely with IBM lines of business to apply their solutions into an industry context and helping develop relevant industry offerings that address critical issues for clients. Second, Richard worked closely with market teams across the world to build senior client relationships, take industry solutions to market and ensure a signature experience for clients. In this role, Richard worked closely with ministerial-level leaders across the world, helping government organizations transform and reinvent by leveraging cloud and cognitive capabilities – through strategic agreements which address emergent societal challenges, ensure ongoing economic growth, and improve regional competitiveness.
Before assuming his current position, Richard was the Vice President of Public Sector in the Growth Markets (based in Shanghai), responsible for IBM’s business across the Healthcare, Life Sciences, Government, and Education industries across Asia Pacific, China, Middle East & Africa and Central, Eastern Europe. Prior to that, Richard served as the Worldwide Director of Smarter Cities Solutions.
Richard has more than 30 years of experience in the Information Technology marketplace with extensive leadership experience and business background serving clients across the world. His career began with IBM in 1988 as a marketing representative for Industrial Sector clients at IBM’s Cleveland, Ohio sale office. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics from Geneva College and a Masters of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University. He is a passionate coach and mentor for many colleagues and an ardent family man based in Cleveland, Ohio.
